Hello, and welcome to
my webpage. I am a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin - Madison in the Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment (SAGE) My research uses computer models to look at the tradeoffs between Human land-use decisions and ecosystem goods and services.
I completed my undergraduate studies at the Lyman Briggs School of Science
at Michigan State University where I majored in
environmental science and management with a specialization
in spatial information processing (GIS/Remote Sensing).
In the summer of 2003 I worked
for the Barrow Arctic Science Consortium in conjunction with the MSU
Arctic Ecology Lab developing an online mapping application for the
research that has been ongoing in the area since the 1940s. The application
is designed for use by both researchers and members of the Barrow,
AK community. The Barrow Area Information Database – Internet
Map Server can be found at http://ims.arcticscience.org.
During the spring of 2004 I worked for the Smithsonian Conservation and Research Center Spatial Analysis Lab in Front Royal, Virginia where I
used GIS and remote sensing technologies for mapping the habitat of endangered species such
as the Giant Panda and Asian Elephant.
Last summer I traveled to Panama to work for CREA-Panama (Conservation through Research, Education and Action). I worked on biologcal surveys using GPS and GIS and also helped with the re-design of their webpage and other administrative and research oriented tasks.
