The
Lemaire Channel is a small but navigable channel, it is highly prone
to be blocked by ice due to its small size, and on our first attempt
we were not abe to get through. Most of the channel has high rock walls
with ice covered tops.
By the
time we departed the Petermann island, and started heading north, the
ice that had blocked our first attempt to navigate Lemaire Channel had
moved on and we were able to pass through.
The sun
was just setting and the sky had turned a magical pinkish shade (alpenglow).
The view from the back of
the boat was equally as spectacular!
